The Latest Spec Baja Buggy!
When the designers at HPI released the original Baja Buggy to the public, we didn't realize the absolute storm of popularity it would enjoy. Racers everywhere loved it, reviews from all over the world absolutely glowed with enthusiasm, shops ran out of stock and brand new companies sprung up to make wild hop-ups for this one-of-a-kind machine. We had just as much fun tracking all the praise as we did for the Savage monster truck! Most encouraging of all, though, we heard back from customers everywhere about how much they enjoy their Baja, which is the best thing we could possibly expect. After all that, you'll understand that when it comes to updating such a legendary car, you can't mess with the magic too much: we wanted to give our fans more of the same, without going overboard. It was a tricky subject, but we're sure we got it right on the money.

The HPI Baja: the original, and still the best!
The latest version of the Baja 5B 2.0 gives you a 2.4GHz radio system, more speed, better acceleration, improved handling and THREE fantastic new looks! The awesome gray-anodized look of the Baja 5T truck comes to the buggy, with all of the Main Aluminum parts now anodized a cool, sleek gunmetal color. The Body is now available in three fantastic new designs: bright red, cool blue and subdued gray.

New Body Colors
The tough bodyshell is now available in three all-new paint schemes: subdued gray, hot red and cool blue! These are pre-painted, pre-trimmed bodies that are ready to go right out of the box: no prep work needed! With their 2mm thick polycarbonate moulded construction they will last for a very long time!

Revised 23cc Engine
The new Engine fitted in the Baja 5B 2.0 features an updated cylinder that provides 10% extra power! When combined with the High Flow Muffler and 8000 RPM clutch, you'll experience much faster top speeds, better Acceleration and more power overall!

High Flow Muffler
The High Flow Muffler from the Baja 5T is a much larger capacity design than the old standard muffler, and is tuned to give you more horsepower on the track. It sounds fantastic, too! When the Baja 5B 2.0 is ripping past the pits, you will know it!

8000 RPM Clutch
Formerly an option part, the high performance 8000 RPM Clutch from the Baja SS and 5T is used to give you more Punch off the line. Lightweight Clutch Shoes and a strong heavy-duty spring are the integral parts of this unit, and you will feel the power out of the turns.

VVC/HD Shock Absorbers
These are the same damper units that equip the Baja SS and Baja 5T, and are now standard parts for the 5B 2.0 - these are oil-filled, externally adjustable coilover shocks for fantastic performance and heavy-duty action! Thick shock shafts provide security from crashes, threaded shock bodies allow instant Ride Height changes, and the externally adjustable design is tailor-made for trackside tuning.

Torx T27 Engine Screws
The Engine now features tough Torx T27 screws to make maintenance and rebuilds less of a chore. Torx screws are easier to work with and provide less wear and tear on tools and screws, making them the ideal screw option for a Baja Buggy engine!

Gunmetal Anodizing
The v2.0 update includes a total reworking of all the Aluminum parts of the Baja buggy, from the Chassis to the spring adjust collars! The very cool gunmetal look gives the Baja 5B 2.0 the 'race' look, and it's easy to add a bit of bling with Baja SS or original 5B colour parts.

Great New Look
Topping off the gunmetal monocoque Chassis are the new pre-painted bodyshells provided with the Baja 5B 2.0 choose from three new Main colours: a racy red, awesome blue or stealthy gray! Each design is totally new and unique, and would cost you a fortune if you were to get it custom-painted on a clear bodyshell! Hit the track or your bashing field in style!

Fantastic Scale Appearance
From the first glance, the Baja Buggy looks just like the sand rails and desert racers you can see racing across the Sonora in Baja California, or blasting around the sands dunes of the American Southwest. Nothing else in the RC world comes close! From the bumper and front suspension, to the cockpit and rollcage, all the way to the wing and rear bumper, in the looks department, the HPI Baja is second to none.

Extremely Durable

Long Travel Suspension
For confidence-inspiring traction and control on any type of surface, the Baja 5B 2.0 uses the amazing long-travel suspension used for all the kits in the Baja series. Extra-long oil Filled shock absorbers and durable suspension arms connect via a specially tuned suspension geometry to give not only a fantastic look and style to the Baja buggy, but amazing versatility, tuning potential and great handling!

Dual Vented Disc Brake
To bring something the size and speed of the Baja Buggy to a safe and controlled stop, the brakes need to be extra-strong, reliable and foolproof. This is why we use two steel plates for Brake discs, both of which are drilled for lightness. To keep the discs cool under pressure, a fan-shaped spacer is used blast rotating air through the vent holes drilled in each disc.

Long Wheelbase
In addition to everything else that makes the Baja 5B 2.0 handle great, its long wheelbase is ideal for racing on large tracks designed for 1/5th Scale vehicles, or just playing in big fields. The Baja 5B 2.0 is more stable over jumps and rough ground than other large scale cars, a tribute to its great suspension design and longer wheelbase.

DDM and Earth Surfer Products have teamed up to provide you with a top-quality fully ported Zenoah 30.5cc 4-Bolt engine. This engine has a 36mm cylinder bore and 30mm (+2mm) crankshaft, for a total of 30.5cc and an estimated HP output of 4.5hp (even more if you add a tuned pipe!) This is not just a a "quick and dirty" 20 minute milling machine port job. ESP ported engines are proven to be fast and reliable. They are fully hand ported from top to bottom by Earth Surfer Products. Your engine will have much more power in all RPMs (even the dead spot that most piped RC engines have before the power hits) and will still REV higher than stock. Earth Surfer products completely tears down the engine and spends hours, cutting in great detail, the porting that will have you grinning from ear to ear. Detail like this is almost impossible to do on a milling machine - even a CNC milling machine. Typical performance gains are in excess of 1 full horsepower increase. Here is a list of all the work E.S.P. does to the engine. Ever had your throttle linkage get stuck, leaving your throttle all the way open? Here is the best solution. The Yamadude throttle linkage!

If you run in a lot of dirt and sand the stock slider at the carb just gets hammered with sand. Even with side window,s it gets in there and makes that slide hang up causing brake drag and throttle sticking issues. You can try and drill out the slider but mud and sand still gets built up in there.

This set up moves the linkage farther up to the front and tucks nicely under the body.

Another thing it does is it gets rid of that stupid clip thing thats a pain to get on and off and loosens up over time and fails to stay on after a few removals. Another plus is you can set your brakes and throttle at the collars instead of trying to get you fingers in there and adjust that little brake adjuster.

The way these are set up you will have to clip the corner of your choke lever(if your running a stock style) to clear the end of the linkage.

New from Snappy RC, the Ultimate Baja Fuel Line Kit!

The magical part of this kit is not just that you can get a tank grommet without buying an expensive tank... It is that you also don't need to buy the gas cap to get the guts for your billet cap anymore. There is a check valve breather that fits the third tube so your cap can be sealed up and no more leaks!!!

Basic installation instructions are as follows:
• Cut tubing to desired length (recommended 14" for fuel pickup, 10" for return, 11" for vent check valve)
• Insert tubing into grommet (Return and vent tubing should be only a half inch through the grommet and the pickup tube should be five inches into the grommet)
• Install fuel pickup filter and vent check valve
• Install grommet in tank. It is a very tight fit (Use some 2-cycle oil for lubrication and install with a twisting motion)
• Remove old guts from gas cap and plug vent hole (Plug the vent hole with "SealAll" or tap the hole and install a set screw)
• Install the o-ring in the cap (Be sure to remove any burs on billet caps before installing the o-ring)
• This kit is intended to be used with gasoline not ethanol

Note: There are dropdown options for your 3 fuel line colors. You can choose whichever you like. The cost of the fuel line is 80 cents per piece, and is added in addition to the base price of the kit. Each type of fuel line you select will be cut to a 15" piece, so all 3 pieces will be plenty long enough.

Optional Full-Force fittings are now available, using these fittings will allow for maximum unrestricted fuel flow.

Check out this new steel bumper from DarkSoul. Released at the 2007 RCX show with great reviews. The design of this bumper allows for a "crumple zone". Being made of flat plate, it can bend and absorb a good portion of the shock from a front hit by folding back. If you bend the bumper, you can fairly easily bend it back to shape with your hands.
